Static Load Testing on Piles

Progetto

The project involved a testing campaign to verify the foundation stability of the new Vantage Data Center, MXP 11, in Melegnano, near Milan. The static load tests were conducted on FDP (Full Displacement Pile) Ø420 mm pilot piles to ensure the safety and efficiency of deep foundations, essential for a major technological infrastructure supporting Italy’s digitalization efforts.

Intervento

Field S.r.l. performed vertical static load tests on four pilot piles in collaboration with specialized contractor Pavoni S.p.A. The intervention included the installation of 450-ton hydraulic jacks, 700-bar ENERPAC hydraulic control units, displacement transducers, and an advanced data acquisition system (DataTaker DT-85). During testing, incremental load cycles were applied while continuously monitoring deformations and settlements, using the AIDA IoT platform for data visualization, processing, and storage.

Risultati

The tests confirmed the stability of the piles under maximum loads exceeding 4,000 kN, with controlled settlements at the end of loading applications. The monitoring system provided precise real-time data, supporting optimal foundation design decisions for the new Vantage Data Center. The applied methodology ensured compliance with technical standards and reliable performance of the foundation structures.
