Project
The A5 motorway, which crosses the Valle d’Aosta, is a strategic infrastructure connecting Italy and France. Managed by R.A.V. S.p.A. (Autostrade per l’Italia Group), this section runs through areas characterized by complex geotechnical conditions and significant structural risks. To ensure the safety and reliability of the infrastructure—including the Dolonne and Avise tunnels and the Verrand viaduct—a sophisticated monitoring system was implemented to prevent potential issues and optimize maintenance.
Intervention
Field S.r.l. supplied and installed a comprehensive monitoring system, including piezometers, inclinometers, and tiltmeters equipped with autonomous power supply and remote data acquisition. Data management is centralized through the Aida IoT platform, enabling real-time data processing and visualization, ensuring continuous infrastructure monitoring, and triggering automatic alerts in case of anomalies.
Results
Since 2021, the system has provided continuous and reliable structural monitoring, enhancing the client’s ability to manage critical data in real time. This ensures constant geotechnical and structural assessment, supporting infrastructure safety and maintenance.
